Why is it so hard to lose weight?
This is a no BS article. Most weight loss "expert" are reluctant
to tell you the truth.
1. Learn to ask for help: We live in a world where people suffer from denial, laziness and pride. They are so lazy that they cannot even take proper care of their own health. In such a world, if you need help regarding your weight loss efforts, don't expect to get
it unless you ASK for the same! If you don't ask for help, it will never come! While asking for help doesn't always guarantee that you won't be denied, but at some point of time, you may come across someone who will agree to offer you support in whatever way they can. Well, that will be the start of your successful weight loss journey. Remember that you can never do it all yourself if there is no one around to motivate, support and help you. Help and support can come in the form of professionals such as fitness trainers, doctors or nutritionists, or from your family members and friends.
2. If you don't look after your health, at some point of time, you will be forced to: In the early days of our forefathers, people used to take good care of their health and take full responsibility for any unwanted health related problems. They would look to it they don't eat something that can adversely affect their health and life. Not so in today's world. Today, people are happy to pass the buck on someone else, that 'someone' being either the family doctor; or the unscrupulous drug dealers. Rarely if ever you will find people taking the full responsibility for their health. If people would have taken good care of their health, there would not have been millions of obese adults in America alone!
But don't worry- if you don't take good care of your body, at some point of time your body will force you to think otherwise! At some point of time, a drastic change will occur in your life such as weight gain, at which point you will be forced to take a hard look at your lifestyle and take full responsibility for whatever happened to you!
3. Focus on the big picture, not on gimmicks: With the availability of so many different diet plans and weight loss supplements in America, people in other countries assume that Americans can lose weight easily! However, this is not the reality. Even with so much advancement in medical science and easy availability of knowledge and technology, people are unable to lose weight. The reason behind this is that they have been overburdened with fad diets, contradictory views and fake medicines. It is also important to note that people spend too much time and money on fad diets and gimmicks (which give them short term results at most), but rarely if ever, do they care to look at the big picture that is so visible right in front of their eyes. The big picture is that you cannot lose weight unless you start exercising and eating healthy foods. By 'healthy foods', I don't mean dieting; rather I mean eating foods that are low on calorie and fat content. This is the surefire way to lose weight, and yet, however much I tell people about this, they refuse to believe it and choose to follow fads and gimmicks instead!
4. Stop Thinking About Instant Gratification: Perhaps the real reason why people refuse to follow the long term path of diet and exercise is that they have been so used to getting instant gratification. Instant burgers, instant cheese, instant pizzas, etc. Instant gratification is what made you overweight, and if you still cannot learn to stop looking for instant gratification, well, your future is bleak and dark. You need to remember that right now you are trying to fight for the impossible- that of losing weight in the shortest possible time. In reality, weight loss is a long term goal, to achieve which you need patience!
